Point Guard

Generally taller than a Point Guard but shorter than a small forward. They are not necessarily a great ball handler, but normally the team??ˉ best perimeter shooter. A good Shooting Guard sets them self up by coming off screens set by taller teammates prepared to shoot, pass or drive to the basket. They also try to grab rebounds.

Small Forward
Also known as ‘Swingman’
The Small Forward is the all-purpose player on offence. They are aggressive, strong and tall enough to mix it up inside – yet agile enough to handle the ball and shoot well. They must be able to score from both perimeter and the inside.

Power Forward
Also known as ‘Four Spot’
Usually a rugged rebounder, who has muscles or at least a little bulk but are athletic enough to move with some degree of quickness around the painted area (the free throw lane) offensively and defensively. The Power Forward is expected to score when given the opportunity on the baseline, much like a centre, but usually has a range of five metres all around the basket.

Centre
Also known as ‘The big Man’ or ‘The Five Man’
Typically the tallest player on the team, the Centre should be able to post up offensively ?that is, receive the ball with his back to the basket and use pivot moves to hit a variety of short jumpers,wholesale jerseys, hook shots and dunks. They must also know how to find the open player in the key and grab offensive rebounds.
